Greetings Southern Region Ushers:

First, I would like to say thanks for giving me another opportunity to serve as your Regional Director.  I know that with God's guidance and your support I will not stray far from the path of righteousness in leading this organization.

Secondly, I want to thank all of you who attended our National Convention in Reno-Sparks, NV  Because of your support and participation, the convention was a great success.

Congratulations with God's Blessings to the following Elected National and Appointed Officers:
  • Christy Justice - Southern Region Young Adult Director (2nd Vice President)
  • Destinee Merida - Southern Region Junior and Young Director (2nd Vice President)
  • Curtiss Hester - Young Adult Board of Directors Chairman
  • Shirley Baker - Reappointed Henry Ballard Choir Chairman
  • Mike Stevens - Junior and Young People Supervisor
  • Jaye Blackman - Memorial Chairman
  • Shawn Wright - Young Adult Board Member
  • Rev. Lamar Jones, Reappointed ~Young Adult Co-Counselor & Spiritual Advisor  
     

As I stated at The Southern Regional Conference, our 2011 - 2012 Theme is:
"USHERS FULLY COMMITTED", KINGS 8:60-61. " So that all people of the earth may know that the Lord is God and that there is no other. 61 And  may your hearts be Fully Committed to the Lord our God, to live by His decrees and obey His commands, as at this time."

Our goals for the 2011-2012 year are similar to last year's goals:

  • I plan to visit each state at least once before our Regional Conference or at least by the National Convention.
  • Continue to streamline our conference in such a way that it will serve you better, with more workshops and less meeting time.  I think this will give you something to take back to your states and to help you grow. 
  • Strengthen our Young Adult and Junior and Young People Departments, so they will be better prepared to take on the leadership role of our organization in the future.
  • Increase the Men's Fellowship on a Regional Level.
  •  Continue Reorganizing the State of North Carolina and organizing Alabama and West Virginia.

I know that our core of elected and appointed officers are very capable of doing the job and I know you will give them your complete support.  Remember, we are only as strong as our weakest link.

I look forward to a great year and as we prepare to host the National Convention in Orlando 2012 and as I prepare to leave as your Regional Director, I can truly say this is the "SECOND TO NONE REGION."
